Go to Campus Observatory!

If you haven't already been to Campus Observatory, go ASAP. There are only 4 sessions left. If you miss, there is no make up AND you cannot drop either of the Campus Observatory grades (even if you get a zero for them)!

Lab #4: Comets & Asteroids

Tip:
~We'll be using flour, ammonia, and dirt in today's lab... you should avoid wearing black or really nice clothes... if at all possible.

Lab #7: The Orbit of Mercury (Sept. 11)

Tips:
~ Bring a PENCIL! You will definitely need one!
~ Bringing a good eraser will also be helpful.
~ Bring a calculator! You will be doing several calculations in this lab and bringing a calculator that is NOT your cell phone will speed things along quite a bit!
~ You may also want to print out an extra page 113, if you think you're likely to mess it up. (What you plot on this page is very important!)

Lab Summaries

As a reminder, Lab Summaries are due Friday during lab along with the lab write-up (filled out lab manual) that the Scribe for your group needs to turn in.

I've added a link to the Lab Report Template under the "Useful Links" section to the right.

If any of the links don't work, please let me know ASAP, so I can fix it.

Tips:
~For all labs, print them out AND READ THEM before you come!
~Bring a calculator! You will have a slightly easier time if it can handle exponents.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Astronomy 110G Lab website! There is useful info on the right that should make your life a bit easier.

As this may end up being my main means of communication with you (in addition to email), please check this site often. You should be able to bookmark the site as a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed that can be periodically & automatically updated by your computer. If you do this, you're updated as soon as something posts and you don't have to check the website to know that something is new. (Hint: To do this all you really need to do is click on "Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)" below.)

IMPORTANT: WE DO NOT DO ALL THE LABS IN THE LAB MANUAL OR DO THEM IN NUMERICAL ORDER! This means one day we could be doing lab #8 and the next time be doing lab #4. See the schedule on the right for the lab order. You can also click on each of the labs to be directed to an easily printable pdf version of that lab.

I look forward to seeing all of you on Friday, August 28th at 12:30pm in Biology Annex (BX) Room 102 (the same place as lecture).
